The 3rd World March for Peace and Non-violence in Bangladesh: 5 Days of Activities to Contribute towards Global World Peace

On October 16, 2024, the World March Base team members– Rafael de la Rubia, Antonio Carvallo, and Decler Hague, entered Bangladesh to bring a message of peace and non-violence much needed in this day and age and in all corners of the globe.

Activities were done in the two districts of Dhaka & Ishwordy, Pabna, visiting and doing the rounds to programs and activities in Educational Institutions—7 universities which included Dhaka University, Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University & Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Uttara.Dhaka, Uttara University, Asian University of Bangladesh, Daffodil International University and Global University Bangladesh and the Ishwardi Government Sara Marwari Model School and College, Ishwardi, Pabna.

Five organizations collaborated with all the Humanist Initiatives planned for the 3rd World in Bangladesh which included– ALOKITO MANUS, SAU, Dhaka, Manab, Ishwardi, Pabna, Care for Humanity, Ishwardi, Pabna, the Nazrul Center and Dhaka Reporters Unity.

A total of 825 Persons participated physically in the events:

  1. 17.10.2024: Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University-150 Teachers & Students.
  2. 10.18.2024: Dhaka University- 100 Teachers & Students.
  3. 19.10.2024: Ishwardi, Pabna- 350 Teachers & Students.
  4. 10.2024: Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Uttara. Dhaka was 250 Teachers & Students.
  5. 10.2024: Dhanmandi- 25 Students of Anti-Discrimination Movement, Dhanmandi area.

The news reached 12,000 persons. 12 newspapers and 1 television channel covered all the World March events.

Press Conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity on 16 October 24:

A press conference organized by the Humanist Society at Dhaka Reporters Unity on October 16, Wednesday on the occasion of the 3rd World March for Peace and Nonviolence which began in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica on October 02, 2024. Meanwhile, 93 countries of the world have signed the resolution of this world convention and 70 countries have endorsed it.

3rd World March for Nonviolence Bangladeshi Coordinators Sheikh Md Arif, Ayub Ansari, Maruf Ul Alam, MdRiaz Uddin, Shafiqul Islam Kanu, Sabrina Khan, MdKawsar Ahmed and other leaders were present at the press conference.

The World March Team was attended by Mr. Rafael de Rubia, World Coordinator of the 3rd World Conference on Peace and NonViolence.

Students and educators in universities gathered together in rallies to share their deep-seated message of peace and non-violence to one and all.

Collaboration & Memorandum of Understanding with a University:

On October 20, 2024, the WM signed an MOU with Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University and in so doing, more efforts can be done in the university to promote peace-making efforts for the benefit of everyone on campus.

 

All in all, it was 5 days dedicated towards much-needed local and global peace…with Bangladesh joining the many countries who are welcoming the World March Base Team in its mission to help build a more human world for one and old alike, one where everyone can live in peace and harmony.
