On the Wings of Words

She flies, intoxicated, high so high
Lifting me up from the mire

She flies, ecstatic, high, and ever so high
Urging me onwards

There were no words could capture
The rapture that erupts…

When you leave the past behind
When the future beckons, she beckons.

On the wings of words, she soars, she flies.
Bold and loud, vibrant with life.

A phoenix from fire, she alights.
On her wings, she carries bright dreams and hopes.

To the east, she hovers,
To the west, she looks and lingers.

Over temples and mosques, over lambs and ewes,
Over languishing babes and festering plagues

Her tears rain down, a cleansing draining of drops.
Her smiles then break through, a clearing of the clouds.

Here and there, she glides and swoops
She brushes the steeple tops and awakens the church bells.

A joyful tolling rumbles through the plains
Echoes through the hills and cities.

On the wings of words, she sings
Ever so softly, and ever so clear.
